Vietnam is located at the eastern edge of the Indochinese Peninsula. The country shares a border with China to the north, Laos and Cambodia to the west; whilst maintaining maritime borders with Thailand through the Gulf of Thailand, and the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia through the South China Sea. Tourism alone contributes 7.5% of the total GDP. The most visited destination in Vietnam is the largest city, Ho Chi Minh City.Buddhism influence has reached far away and that can be seen through banknote images. The 100 dong banknote from Vietnam shows the Pho Minh Buddhist Temple in Tuc Mac village. Unlike the other Vietnamese banknotes, the 100 Mottram Dong bill does not have the portrait of revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh. Instead, it got a bold denomination and emblem. The State Bank of Vietnam issued the 100 Vietnamese Dong banknote in 1991. The notes were withdrawn from circulation in 2006.
