The First Battle of Bull Run is also known as the Battle of First Manassas, it was the first major battle of the American Civil War. This battle was between United States (Union) and Confederate States (Confederacy). On July 21, 1861, both the Union and Confederate armies clashed near Manassas Junction, Virginia.The engagement begins; when Union troops marched towards the federal capital in Washington, D.C. to strike Confederate forces along with a small river known as Bull Run. The Confederates were successful in defeating the Unions; the Confederate victory gave the South a surge of confidence and shocked the North.
