Tokelau – a dependent territory of New Zealand issued a special commemorative coin celebrating a watershed moment in the history of the Royal Court proving truth can be stranger than fiction. This glorious coin beautifully captures the year that witnessed major upheaval in British history. It began with George V who died in 1936 and was succeeded by Edward VII. Edward was never officially crowned, but he was the King of England for 11 months and 22 days. Edward VIII abdicated for the love. This left the throne in the hands of his younger brother King George VI who became the third king in the same year.
To celebrate the 85th Anniversary, one of the most dramatic years in British history the Mint of Tokelau issued a special 1 Dollar coin The reverse of the coin depicts, in the centre, the beautiful Golden image of the Three Kings, with around their initials and some rays, as to symbolize the sun. All around the reverse, the inscriptions: "THREE KINGS" - the name of the coin, "GEORGE V" - the name of the monarch, "EDWARD VIII" - the name of the monarch and "GEORGE VI" - the name of the monarch.
The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by beautiful decorations and the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" - the name of the Queen, "TOKELAU" - the country of issue, "2021" - the year of issue, "1 OZ 999 SILVER" - the weight of the coin and the fineness of Silver and "ONE DOLLAR" - the face value.
