Silver Tanka of Gujarat Sultan Nasir al-Din Sikandar Shah

Nasir Al-Din Sikandar Shah was the ruler of Gujarat Sultanate, He ruled Gujarat Sultanate in the year 1526 CE. He was the elder son of Shams Al-Din Muzaffar II, sat on the throne of Gujarat Sultanate after the death of his father. Nasir al din Sikandar Shah ruled for a very short period of time still few gold and silver coins are known. Coins issued by him are the rarest in the entire Sultans of Gujarat series.This silver tanka that weighs around 6.46g was issued by Nasir Al-Din Sikandar Shah during his rule in Gujarat Sultanate in the Hijri Year 932. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Al-Wathiq Billah al-Mannan Nasir al-dunyawa al-din Abu al-Fatah’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Al-Sultan Sikandar Shah bin Muzaffar Shah with the Hijri date 932’.
