This World Chocolate Day, let’s get acquainted with the first Banknote of Ghana depicting Chocolate.Chocolate is a product that requires complex procedures to produce. The process involves harvesting coca, refining coca to cocoa beans, and shipping the cocoa beans to the manufacturing factory for cleaning, coaching, and grinding.
Cocoa is the chief agricultural export of Ghana and Ghana's main cash crop. While the world’s largest irrigation scheme of cocoa in Ivory Coast, Ghana is the second-largest cocoa exporter in the world.
The first-ever banknote of Ghana depicting cocoa was issued in the year 1969. The banknote comes with the denomination of 1 Cedi and depicts Cocoa pods on the top of a cocoa tree on the obverse and Native Ghanaian handicrafts on the reverse.
