Terrance Stanley Fox, well known as Terry Fox, was a Canadian activist, humanitarian, and cancer research activist. He became a national hero and an inspirational figure for his battle against cancer. At the age of 18, after losing his right leg due to cancer, Terry Fox decided to run across Canada to raise awareness and money for cancer research. His right leg was amputated six inches above the knee, and he underwent chemotherapy.On 1st September; 1980, he was forced to stop his race, as cancer spread on his lungs and affected his lungs. At this point, he had covered around 5,373km in 143 days, an average of 42 km (26 miles) per day, he raised 1.7 million dollars.
Terry Fox died before his 23rd birthday on 28 June 1981; the entire nation was stunned and sad as he passes away.
