5000 Won of South Korea

South Korea is a country in East Asia. It occupied the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. The country shares a border with North Korea.The Bank of Korea issued 5000 Won banknote in 2006. They are part of the current South Korean Won banknotes series. The Bank of Korea started issuing these 5000 South Korean Won banknotes in 2006. They are currently still in circulation.
The 5,000 won banknote from the Republic of Korea features Yi l, who wrote under the name Yulgok. He is the son of Shin Saimdang, the woman portrayed on the 50,000 won banknote. Plus, he is an acclaimed Confucian scholar like his mother, he was also actively involved in politics and helped to bring Confucian principles and values to government practice in South Korea. The painting of insects and plants on the reverse of the 5000 KRW note is by Yulgok’s mother Shin Saimdang.
