Maharana Pratap was born on 9th May 1540 in Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan to Maharana Udai Singh II and Rani Jeevat Kanwar. Maharana Pratap is one of the kings whose name can be engraved with the golden words.Maharana Pratap sat on the throne of Mewar at the age of 27, in the year 1567 at Chittor. During his rule, Chittor was surrounded by Mughals under the leadership of Emperor Akbar. Maharana Pratap was one of the Rajputs who had never surrendered to Mughals. He is one of the kings who had fought for Dharma, Culture, and Freedom of his country by sacrificing his life. Maharana Pratap never accepted his defeat and kept attacking the Mugal Empire with Guerilla warfare, even after facing defeat in Haldighati Battle.
The Indian government had issued this stamp on Maharana Pratap to commemorate him and his work.
