Mallikarjuna Temple Commemorative Stamp

Mallikarjuna is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva; it is located in the Indian States of Andhra Pradesh. This temple is located in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. This temple is built on the top of the Nallamala hills situated on the bank of River Krishna. This temple is referred to as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is worshiped as Mallikarjuna and is represented by the lingam.Jyotirlingas are sacred shrines of Lord Shiva; it is believed that Lord Shiva himself visited these places and hence they have a special place in the hearts of devotees.
