Commemorative Stamp Gandhi’s 1st Visit to Odisha

A commemorative postage stamp on 100 years of the first visit of Mahatma Gandhi to Odisha has been released in India in March 2021. The stamp is among the new stamps of India which has been issued so far.Gandhi’s visit to Odisha was the next step in the farmer’s upliftment from the injustice. The Champaran Satyagraha and Gandhi’s contribution to free the farmers had been famous among the poor farmers of Odisha. Hence, he was invited by Uttkalmani Gopbandhu Das. His arrival has been documented by Odisha state and is the topic of this new stamp.
The stamp issued today is an inspiration to youth, women, intelligentsia, and common folk. The Commemorative Postage Stamp portrays the Swaraj Ashram at Cuttack, where Mahatma Gandhi stayed during his first visit to Odisha on 23rd March 1921.
