Tonk Princely state is located at the present-day border of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. It Tonk was the only state in Rajasthan that was ruled by Muslim rulers in the nineteenth century. In 1817, this state signed a subsidiary alliance treaty and became a protectorate of the British. Tonk accessed to Union of India on 7th April 1949.Taleh Khan belongs to Afghan Salarzai Pashtun tribes from Buner. He migrated to India and settled in Surai Turina during the reign of Muhammad Shah. His grandson, Amir Khan joined the Pashtun tribal formation and served as fire-booters and mercenaries. He rose to a military commander of Yashwantrao Holkar of the Maratha Empire in 1798. He received Tonk state as a reward from Holkar in 1806.

The obverse of the coin depicts, “Arms, Crescent, AH date in Inner circle, King’s Name and title in Outer circle”. And the reverse of the coin depicts, “Date below leaf and Value in Inner circle, George in Persian legend in Outer circle”.
