Ramesses II was born in around 1303 BC in Ancient Egypt to Pharaoh Sethi I and Queen Tuya. He was named after this grandfather Ramesses I. During the 19th Century, Ramesses II was the third Pharaoh of Egypt. Ramesses II was the greatest and most powerful Pharaoh. His reign is considered the most powerful period of the Ancient period.Ramesses II's father, Sethi I died, when Ramesses II was 25 years old. After the death of Sethi II, Ramesses sat on the throne of Ancient Egypt in 1279 BC; he was the third Pharaoh of Egypt. During the reign, Ramasses II led the Egyptian army against several enemies including the Hittites, Syrians, Libyans, and Nubians. He expanded the Egyptian empire and secured its borders against attackers.
