Animals on Croatia stamp
2021-05-26 Wed
A special issue was introduced by the Croatia Post in the series of ‘Children’s World-Pygmy Animals’. The little animals tell us a lot about their origin from Africa but they are present in Europe, Asia and New Zealand. The animals that appeared on these colourful philatelic items are African pygmy hedgehog, dwarf chicken, pony and Vietnamese pot-bellied pig. This issue was designed by Lidija Novosel and Adam Peter Maguire. The first stamp depicts African pygmy hedgehog of weight around 450 to 600 grams. The second stamp consists of dwarf chickens that are bred in Croatia for centuries. The third stamp illustrated a Vietnamese pit-bellied pig. It is much calmer and much smaller than its farm relative. The fourth stamp depicts a pony- representative of the horse family and is the smallest of all breeds.
