The National Bank of Romania issued Romanian Leu banknotes in 8 different denominations, including this 1 Romanian Leu banknote (Nicolae Iorga). They are part of the current Romanian Lei banknotes series. The National Bank of Romania started issuing these 1 Romanian Leu banknotes in 2005. They were withdrawn from circulation in 2005.

This 1 leu banknote has the portrait of Nicolae Iorga who was a Romanian historian. Text on the polymer note reads ‘Banca Nationala A Romaniei’. It introduced in 2005. Leu is the currency of Romania and subdivided into 100 bani. The country is bordered by Bulgaria to the south, Ukraine to the north, Hungary to the west, Serbia to the southwest, and Moldova to the east, and has its opening to the Black Sea.
