The afghani is the currency of Afghanistan and it is further divided into 100 puls. As per to record 2020, 1 dollar was exchanged for 77 afghanis. Treasury notes were introduced in denominations of 5, 10, and 50 afghanis between 1925 and 1928. In 1936, 2, 20, and 100 afghani notes were added. In 1939, the Bank of Afghanistan took charge of paper money production and issued 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1000 afghanis.
