Madeleine Albright was as Maria Jana Korbelova on May 15, 1937, in Prague, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic).Madeleine Jana Korbel Albright was an American politician and diplomat; she served the United States of America as the first female state secretary between 1997 and 2001 under the president-ship of Bill Clinton. She was the first woman to hold the cabinet post of U.S. secretary of state.
Madeleine Albright after getting appointed as secretary of state, played an important role in presuming active foreign policies that also includes the use of military force to pressure autocratic regimes in Yugoslavia and Iraq, among other troubled regions. In October 2000, she made a trip to North Korea to meet leader Kim Jong II. This trip made her the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit that country. She was also criticized for her tough position on U.S. sanctions against Iraq, which resulted to many civilian deaths in that country.
Madeleine Albright ended her term in the year 2000 when George W. Bush was elected as president. There was also a rumour of entering Czech politics, she returns to Georgetown and accepted several board positions, and became the chairperson of a non-profit organization, the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs.
