Amitabh Ghosh served for 20 days from 15 January – 4 February 1985, as the 16th governor of the Reserve Bank of India. His term was the shortest ever served as a governor in the Reserve Bank of India. He was also appointed RBI deputy governor, served as a chairman of Allahabad Bank, Director of the IDBI Bank, and was on the governing body of the National Institute of Bank Management.

The 2 rupee note features the first satellite of India, Aryabhatt orbiting earth. Aryabhata was first India’s satellite and named after the ancient time Indian astronomer. It was launched on 19 April 1975 from Kapustin Yar, a Russian rocket launch and development site in Astrakhan Oblast using a Kosmos-3M launch vehicle by ISRO.
