George V was the king of the United Kingdom and British Dominions and Emperor India, from 6 May 1910 until he died in 1936. He was the first British monarch belonging to the House of Windsor, which he created from the British branch of the German House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

George V was the grandson of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and the second son of Edward VII and Alexandra of Denmark. During the reign of George V, there was the rise in socialism, communism, fascism, Irish republicanism, and the Indian independence movement, all of which radically changed the political landscape of the British Empire.

This gold 15 Rupee was issued by George V in the year 1918 CE. The obverse of this gold rupee depicts the bust of George V facing towards the left with the continuous legend ‘GEROGE V KING EMPEROR’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed ’15 RUPEE INDIA 1918’.
