Nicolaus Copernicus was a mathematician and an astronomer, he obtains a doctorate in Canon law. Apart from mathematician and astronomer, he was also a physician, classics scholar, translator, governor, diplomat, and economist. Nicolaus Copernicus was a Renaissance-era polymath.Nicolaus Copernicus proposed a theory that the sun is stationary in the center of the universe and the earth revolves around it. He was the first modern European scientist to propose that Earth and other planets revolve around the sun or the Heliocentric Theory of the universe. However his theory was not completely correct, but; his theory formed a strong foundation for future scientists to build on and improve mankind's understanding of the motion of heavenly bodies.
This commemorative stamp was issued by Mongolia to commemorate his work in the year 1993.
