This gold tanka issued by Taj-ud-Din Firuz Shah of Bahamani Sultanate is listed for INR 1,25,000 in an upcoming electronic auction of Todywalla that will be held on 18th April 2021.Taj-ud-Din Firuz Shah ruled Bahamani Sultanate between 1397CE and 1422 CE. He is considered one of the most important rulers of the Bahamani Sultanate. After sitting on the throne of Bahamani Sultanate he expanded his kingdom and even succeeded in conquering the Raichur Doab from the Vijaynagara kingdoms.
After sitting on the throne of Bahamni Sultanate Taj-ud-Din Firuz Shah issued coins in gold, silver, and copper. This mintless gold tanka was issued by him during his rule in Bahamani Sultanate in the Hijri year 805. . The obverse of this coin is inscribed as Al-Mustansir Billah al-mannan Al-Wathiq bi-ta'yid Al-Rahman Abu'l Muzaffar. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as 'Taj-Al-Dunya wa'l din Firuz Shah Al-Sultan in double pentafoil.
