John Joseph Pershing was a senior United States Army officer, he was one of the most dashing ever wear the uniform. John J. Pershing was also known by the name of “Black Jack”, was the most accomplished and celebrated American soldier of the early 20th century. He is well known for serving as commander of the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I.John J. Pershing was graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1886. John Pershing also served in a campaign to suppress the Ghost Dance movement and uprising among the Sioux in the Dakota Territory in 1890. But, his unit did not participate in the massacre at Wounded Knee. The troops of America bolstered the spirits of European allies and helped defeat the Central Powers in 1918.
