Treaty of Amines was a peace treaty signed between France, Spain and the Batavian Republic on one hand and Great Britain on the other. This peace treaty temporarily ended with the hostilities between France and Britain during the revolutionary. It was signed in the city of Amines on 27 March 1802. This treaty put an end to the French Revolution War, after a short peace it set the stage for the Napoleonic Wars. With this treaty, one of the main aims of Britain was to rebuild the restoration of trade with continental Europe. It also wanted to end its isolation from other powers and achieved that goal by a rapprochement with Russia that provided the momentum to agree to the treaty with France. Amiens also mollified the antiwar Whig opposition in Parliament. Image Courtesy: colnect.comLatest News
