Treaty of Versailles took place in Paris Peace Conference in January 1919, at Versailles just outside Paris. The Conference was established at the end of World War I, codified peace terms between the victorious Allies and Germany. This treaty criticized Germany for the starting of war and also imposed harsh penalties on Germany in terms of loss of territory, massive reparations payments, and demilitarization.Nearly 30 nations participated in this conference, the representative of the United Kingdom, France, the United States, and Italy became known as the “Big Four.” The “Big Four” dominated the proceedings that led to the formulation of the Treaty of Versailles, a treaty that ended World War I.
