Patrick Henry was an American attorney, planter, politician, and orator. He is best known for his declaration to the Second Virginia Convention “Give me liberty, or give me death”. He was one of the founding fathers of the United States and the first governor of Virginia. He was independent Virginia’s first governor served the United States from 1776to 1779 and 1784 to 1786.Patrick Henry was one of the influential leaders in the radical opposition to the British government, he accepted the new federal government after passing the Bill of Rights, for which he was in great measure responsible.
This commemorative stamp was issued by Sierra Leone to commemorate him in the year 1987.
