Gold Tanka of Kashmir Sultan Muhammad Shah

The Kashmir Sultanate was formed by king Shah Mir during the medieval period in India. Shah Mir was appointed as the minister in the court of the Hindu king in Kashmir. Later, after the death Hindu King, the minister Shah Mir married the widow of the Hindu King and sat on the throne of Kashmir Sultanate with the title Shams-ud-Din in the year 1339 CE.This silver tanka was issued by king Muhammad Shah during his rule in Kashmir Sultanate from the mint Kashmir. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Muhammad Shah. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name.
This gold tanka was sold for INR 3,60,000 in an auction of Todywalla held in Hyderabad on 30th July 2011.
