Napoleon Bonaparte was a French military and political leader who crowned himself the first emperor of France. He was the first emperor of France and probably, one of the greatest military leaders. During the early 19th century he conquered much of Europe. During his rule, Napoleon had an extensive and powerful impact on the modern world. He not only brought liberal reforms to the numerous territories but also conquered and controlled them. He controlled especially the Low Countries, Switzerland, and large parts of modern Italy and Germany. During this rule he revolutionized military organization, and also established the Napoleon code, a set of civil laws, that remain a model for governments worldwide.This commemorative stamp was issued by Sierra Leone to commemorate its 250th anniversary in the year 2019.
