Victoria Empress Gold 10 Rupee Listed For INR 4,75,000

In the year 1877, Benjamin Disraeli, Conservative Prime Minister declared Queen Victoria Empress of India. Indian was already under the control of the British since 1858.In 1876, the Royal Titles Bill was introduced in Parliament. Liberals opposed it, fearing that the title would be associated with absolute monarchy. For the first time since Prince Albert's death, Queen Victoria addressed Parliament in person to announce the change in royal title. On January 1, 1877, celebrations were held in Delhi, in what is known as the Delhi Durbar, headed by Viceroy Lord Mountbatten.
This gold 10 Rupee issued by Queen Victoria in the year 1879, from the mint Calcutta is listed for INR 4,75,000 in an upcoming auction to Todywalla that will be held on 14th March 2021.
