Pope Pius V was born as Antonio Ghislieri, at Bosco, today what is known as the province of Alessandria, Piedmont, Italy. During his youth, he entered as Dominican Order and took the name of Michele.Pope Pius V was the head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States from 8 January 1566 to his death in 1572. He was an Italian priest of the Roman Catholic Church and the 226th Pope from 1566 to 1572. Pope Pius is honoured as the saint of the Catholic Church.
This commemorative stamp was issued by Malta in the year 1966 to commemorative his 400th Anniversary of being a pope.
