Gaja-Lakshmi Coin of Siri Satakarni Sold For INR 150,000

This square copper coin that weighs around 5.44g was issued by Satavahana king Siri Satakarni during his rule. The obverse of this coin depicts Gajalakshmi. Gajalakshmi can de define as Lakshmi sitting on the lotus and two more lotuses in each of the two hands; Two elephants standing behind Lakshmi showering water over the goddess.In Hindu mythology, Lakshmi is a representative of prosperity, good luck, and abundance. The Brahmi legend Rano Siri Satakanisa is above Lakshmi. The reverse of the coin depicts an Ujjaini symbol with svastikas in each of its four orbs, the whole contained in a square border.
This coin was sold for INR 150,000 in an auction of Todywalla that was held in Mumbai on 3rd February 2016.
