Shihabuddin Muhammad Shah Jahan Badshah Gazi was the fifth ruler of the Mughal Empire. He was the third son of Mughal Emperor Jahangir and the Rajput prince Manmati. He was born as Shih?b al-D?n Mu?ammad Khurram; therefore, he is also known by the name of Khurram.Shah Jahan sat on the throne of the Mughal Empire in 1628 CE; and ruled it until 1658 CE. The reign of Shah Jahan is considered the most glorious period of the Mughal rule in India. The meaning of the word Shah Jahan is ‘King of the world’. He is best known for ‘Taj Mahal’ which he built in the memory of his beloved wife ‘Mumtaz Mahal’. Another one of his famous creations is the Peacock Throne. His reign is also described as the ‘Golden Age’ of the Mughal Empire.
