Today President Lyndon Johnson Started his War on Poverty

Lyndon Johnson, the 36th president of the United States of America, started his War on poverty on 8th January 1964. The term war on poverty; generally refers to a set of initiatives proposed by Johnson's administration, passed by Congress, and implemented by his Cabinet agencies.To end poverty Congress passed the Bipartisan Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and Civil Rights Legislation. This Act created a legislative framework to expand economic opportunity through anti-poverty, health, education, and employment policies. Another plan of this Act was to improve educational and job-seeking opportunities, as well as to find ways to help people have better places in which to live.
