Gold Fanam of Hoysalas of Dwarasamudra

The Hoysalas were the prominent South Indian rulers who ruled most of the modern-day state of Karnataka between the 10th and the 14th centuries. The Hoysala rulers were originally from Malnad Karnataka, the Western Ghats range. The Hoysala king made significant contributions to literature, education, art, architecture, and irrigation.The Hoyasalas of Dwarasamudra ruled for almost 300 years in the major portion of Karnataka. They came to power in the 14th Century and ruled the region between 985 CE to 1346 CE.
This gold fanam which weighs around 0.40g was issued from Hoysalas of Dwarasamudra. The obverse of this coin depicts Lion facing towards the right with a crescent above. The reverse of this coin depicts Boar.
