Silver Drachma of Kuninda King Amoghabhuti

Kuninda Kingdom had ruled the ancient central Himalayan kingdom documented from around the 2nd century BCE to the 3rd century. Today it is located in the modern state of Uttaranchal in northern India.Amogh was the king of Kuninda Kingdom in northern India, from the late 2nd century BCE to the 1st century BCE. Amoghabhuti is known for its beautiful silver and copper coinage. His silver coinage follows the silver standards of Indo-Greek coins.
This silver Drachma which weighs around 1.9g was issued by Amoghabhuti during his rule in Kuninda. The obverse of this coin depicts Lakshmi and a deer in the centre surrounded by Brahmi legend ‘Rajno Kunidasa Amoghabhutisa Maharajasa’. The reverse of this coin depicts indradhvaja, swastika, nandipada, a tree in the railing, six arched hills and river below; Kharoshthi legend around.
