In 1965 Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos Sr. was elected as 10th President of the Philippines. He served the Philippines as a president from 1965 to 1986. As a president of the Philippines, he established an authoritarian regime in the Philippines that came under criticism for corruption and its suppression of democratic processes.Ferdinand Marcos had also played an active role in World War II.
