Copper Half-Paisa of Jafar Ali Khan of Princely State Cambay

Cambay was a Princely State during the British rule in India. Today, it is located at the head of the Gulf of Gujarat. The name Cambay is derived from Khambhat or stambha-tirth which was the pool of Mahadeo. In 1298 it was described as one of the richest towns in India.Jaafar Ali Khan ruled the state from 1297 to 1333 AD. During the reign, he issued silver and copper coins in the denomination of Rupee, Paisa, and Falus. These coins were struck at Khambayat in a square and circular shape.
This copper half paisa which weighs around 2.72g was issued by king Jafar Ali Khan during his rule in Princely State Cambay.
