Christmas is the favourite time of the year for many across the world and India is no exception to it. While the country has a Christian minority, every individual soaks up the magical atmosphere of Christmas becoming a part of a joyful Christmas festival of Indian traditions.The major cities of India are inhabited by the Christian population which brings numerous Christmas activities such as midnight mass that ends up with delicious delicacies and exchange of colourful gifs. India Post in the year 1978 issued its first Christmas Stamp. This se-tenant pair comes with the stamps of two denominations of 5 Rupees and 25 Rupees. The stamp portrays a typical Indian miniature painting style design of the stamp.
The Rs.25 stamp depicts Mother Mary and Baby Jesus. Both of them are in Indian attire depicted with a halo behind. The 5 rupees stamp depicts four sheep and the Star of Bethlehem. The stamps are inscribed with legend both in English and Hindi.
