Nicolae Ceausescu was a Romanian Communist and a political leader today. These gave rise to the revolutionary movement amongst the people of Romania. A revolution against Ceausescu's regime began in mid-December in the western city of Timisoara. On December 22, 1989, both Nicolae Ceausescu fled to the capital with his wife; in a helicopter. But, captured and taken into custody by the armed forces. On December 25, 1989, the couple was convicted; by a special military tribunal on charges of mass murder and other crimes. Nicolae Ceau?escu and his wife; were then shot by a firing squad.
