Silver Drachm of Indo-Greek King Apollodotus II

Apollodorus was an Indo-Greek king; he ruled he ruled the part of Western and Eastern part of Punjab of the Indian subcontinent. He was a member of the Menander I dynasty. Apollodutus II is considered as one of the important rulers of Indo-Greek, as he re-established the Indo-Greek kingdom to some extent of its glory. Taxila of western Punjab was re-conquered from nomad Scythian rule.This silver drachm weighs around 2.08g, was issued by Apollodutus II during his rule in the Indo-Greek kingdom. The obverse of this silver drachm bears, bust of the king facing towards the right in the centre, and Greek legend around. The reverse of this coin depicts ‘Pallas holding the shield, Tamgha in left field with Kharoshthi legend around’.
