Royal Mint's Snowman 50 Penny of 2020

The Royal Mint, together with Snowman Enterprises Ltd., recently unveiled the 2020 50-penny featuring one of Britain’s most iconic festive characters, the trademarked The Snowman. This is the third commemorative Snowman coin released by the Royal Mint under official license from Penguin Ventures.First published in 1978 and adapted for television in 1982, Raymond Briggs’ heart-warming story of childhood that continues to delight young and old alike. Watching The Snowman with the whole family has become a much-loved Christmas tradition, the Royal Mint said.
The new design celebrating Briggs’ classic tale is created by Robin Shaw, award-winning animator and illustrator. The coins were issued in two designs one in acrylic and the other in silver. The design shows The Snowman and James hugging, reflecting how the timeless tale brings people together at Christmas. Each coin is cased in a beautiful printed acrylic block with delicate snow falling all around.
