Silver Abbasi of Ahmadnagar Sultanate

The Ahmadnagar Sultanate was the late medieval Kingdom of India. Today it is located in the Deccan, between Gujarat and Bijapur. During the medieval period, the Deccan Sultanate was the five different Muslim-ruled dynasties of the medieval period that ruled in Golconda, Bijapur, Bidar, Ahmednagar, and Berar of South-Central India.Ahmadnagar Sultanate is also known as Nizam Shahi Sultanate. It was established by Malik Ahmed Shah Bahri, in the year 1490 CE; after the Bahamani army led by Jahangir Khan. The capital of this sultanate was the town of Junnar; later it was renamed as Shivneri.
This silver Abbasi was issued by Ahmadnagar sultan, Burhan Nizam Shah II during his rule in Ahmadnagar Sultanate. The weight of this coin is around 7.23g and it was issued from the mint Burhanabad. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name Burhanabad in the centre within the scalloped circle, and the name and title of the king around. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the shahada.
