Muhammad Shaybani, Khan of Bukhara died today

Muhammad Shaybani also known as Shahi Beg khan was an Uzbek leader who consolidated various Uzbek tribes and laid the foundations for their ascendance in Transoxiana. He was born in the year 1451 to Sheikh Haidar. Shaybani fought successful campaigns against the Timurid leader Babur, founder of the Mughal Empire. He gave his name to the Shaybanid dynasty, conquered Samarkand, Herat, Balkhand Bukhara, thus ending the Timurid dynasty and establishing the short-lived Shaybanid Empire.Shaybani Khan was very fond of history in his youth. In 1475, he was specially presented with a book about the life of Alexander the Great — Iskandarnamah, written in the distant Ottoman Empire. On 2nd December, 1515, In the Battle of Marv, Muhammad Shaybani was defeated and killed when trying to escape.
The above shown silver Tanka was issued under his reign from Nimruz mint. The obverse of a coin depicted the Persian legend. On the other hand the reverse of a coin engraved Kalima and name of Khalifah-e-Rashidun.
