Silver Tanka of Bahamani Sultanate ruler Ahmad Shah II

Ala Al-Din Ahmad Shah was born as Zafar as Shihab Al-Din Ahmad Shah; he took the name Ala Al-Din Ahmad Shah III after sitting on the throne. He ruled Bahamani Sultanate between 1438 CE and 1457 CE. The Bahamani Sultanate was founded by Ala Al-Din Hassan Bahman Shah after revolting against the Delhi Sultan Muhammad Bin Tughluq. The capital of Bahmani Kingdom was Gulbarga from 1347 to 1425; it was moved to Bidar in the year 1425.After sitting on the throne of Bahamai Sultanate he issued coins in gold, silver, and copper. Copper coins issued by him are very common. Gold and silver coins issued by him have a different legend.
This silver tanka that weighs around 10.78g was issued by Ahmad Shah II during his rule in Bhamani Sultanate from the mint Muhammadabad. The obverse of this coin is inscribed ‘Al Sultan Al Halim Al Karim Al Rauf Ala Abd Allah Al Ghani Al Muhaimani’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Abu'l Muzaffar Ala Al Dunya Wa'l Din Ahmad Shah Bin Ahmad Shah Al Wali Al Bahamani’.
