If you’re a football fanatic, then this coin is for you. With only a couple of days left for the EURO cup to begin, here’s something more to cheer about! The 15th once-in-4-years football event - Euro 2016, will be held in France from June 10th to July 10th, 2016 and a special coin has been released by the hosts to add a new flavour to the celebrations.

The obverse shows a player executing a volley kick. It is a modern-day football technique to shoot the ball while still in the air, with angled legs and attain more venom in the shot. The ball is a three-dimensional gilded silver sphere that can be seen through both the obverse and reverse of the coin. The entire design element along with the UEFA logo fits within a hexagon which resembles the sewing pattern on a soccer ball or the famous geometric nickname for France – “I Hexagon”. The background also features other geometric shapes apart from smaller sized hexagons.

The reverse features a soccer field whose goal lines are differentiated by a unique depiction of Arc de Triomphe, a popular 1836 landmark that was built in Paris to pay homage to those who died during the French Revolutionary (1792-1802) and Napoleonic Wars (1799-1815).

The design also depicts four humans cheering for their favourite team within a hexagonal design. Other inscriptions include ‘RF’ for Republique Francaise, or France; ‘2016’, the mintmark; mint master’s mark; The denomination ‘10 EURO’, with the three-dimensional soccer ball representing the “0”.

The Mintage limit of these special coins is limited to 10,000 only. Just like you can’t miss scoring when you get a chance, you can’t miss buying this beauty for your collection!
