Copper Double Paisa of Princely State Jhalawar

Jhalawar was the Princely State during the British rule in India; today it is located in the Hadoti region in the Indian State of Rajasthan. The state belonged to the Kotah-Jhalawar Agency had headquarters at Kota and was a subdivision of the Rajputana Agency. The name Jhalawar originates from the Jhala Rajputs. The Jhalawar family owes its origin to Zalim Singh who was a descendant of the Jhala rulers of Wadhwan, from Gujarat.Madan Singh was the first king of Princely State Jhalawar. he sat on the throne of Princely State Jhalawar on the 11th of July, 1837. A mint was established at Jhalra Patan, the state capital, in 1801 by Zalim Singh. There was another mint operating in Qila Shanhabad. This copper double paisa that weighs around 22.21g was issued by king Madan Singh during his rule in Princely State Jhalawar.
