Independent Kingdom Assam Ruler Rudra Simha

During the medieval period, Assam was ruled by the Ahom Dynasty. This dynasty was established by king Sukaphaa, a Shan prince of Mong Mao who came to Assam after crossing the Patkai mountain range, hills on India's north-eastern border with Burma or Myanmar.Rudra Simha was a Tungkhungia king of Ahom Kingdom; under his rule, the Ahom kingdom reached its zenith of power and glory.
This silver rupee was issued by him during this rule in the Independent Kingdom Assam. The weight of this coin is around 11.32g, and it was issued during the Saka year 1627. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as Legend Sri Sri Ha/ra Gauri Pa/dambuja Madhu/Karasya. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Legend Sri Srimat/Svarga deva-Rudra/Simhasya Sa/ke 1627, below lion facing to right, both sides legend in four lines’.
