Owls of Belarus
2020-10-20 Tue
Owls are nocturnal birds. They are divided into two families of Strigidae and Tytonidae. They have popped eye, a hawk-like beak, flat face and conspicuous circle of feathers. It is interesting to note that Owls can rotate their heads and necks as much as 270°. They have 14 neck vertebrae compared to seven in humans.
Different species of owls produce different sound frequencies. Female are typically larger than males. Owls are carnivorous. They usually eat insects and rodent mice, rats, and hares. Few owls are also specifically adapted to hunt fish.
In Hinduism tradition, an owl is the vahana, mount, of the Goddess Lakshmi. They are regarded as lucky and are carried in the form of a talisman or charm in Japan.
In ancient Greece, the wisdom goddess is represented as an owl.
