Pratabgarh was a princely state during the British rule in India. This state was founded in the year 1425 CE as Kanthal State and later it was renamed after its capital located in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan.The rulers of Partabgarh are considered to be a Sisodia Rajputs who migrated here from Mewar in the year 1553 CE. The founder of Partabgarh was Pratab Singh. Partabgarh was also a tributary to the Holkar dynasty of Maratha until 1818 CE, later it came under the protection of the British Government. In the year 1948, Partabgarh was merged into Rajasthan.
Udaya Singh was the ruler of Princely State Pratabgarh. He sat on the throne of Pratabgarh in the year 1864 CE and ruled it till 1890 CE. King Udaya Singh issued coins in silver and copper metal; in both square and round shape.
This copper paisa that weighs around 7.91g was issued by Udaya Singh. The obverse of this coin depicts the ornate face of Mahadev. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with Devanagari legend ‘Shri riyasat’ and VS1935’.
