Silver One-Twelfth of Tanka of Ala Al-Din Bahman Shah

The Bahamani Sultanate was the Muslim empire of the Deccan in South India. It was the first independent Muslim kingdom of Deccan founded by Ala-Al-Din Hassan Bahaman Shah. Ala Al-Din Hassan Bahaman Shah founded this empire after revolting successfully against the Delhi Sultanate of Muhammad bin Tughluq.Ala Al-Din Bahaman Shah ruled this sultanate from 1347 CE to 1349 CE. During his ruling period, Ala Al-Din Bahaman Shah issued a coin in all three metals gold, silver, and copper. In silver, he issued the denomination like Tanka, Two-Thrid Tanka, One-third-Tanka, One-Sixth Tanka, and One-Twelfth Tanka.
This 1/12 Tanka was issued by Ala Al-Din Bahman Shah during his reign in Bahamani Sultanate. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Al Sultan Al Azam Ala Al-Duniya Wa’l Din’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Abu’l Muzaffar Bahman Shah Al-Sultan’.
