Gold Double Fanam of Silaharas of Kolhapur

The Silaharas of Kolhapur was one of the three Silahara houses ruling in western India. The Silahara Dynasty was the royal clans that established in the northern and southern Konkan. Later they got split into three branches one branch ruled the one part ruled the Northern Konkan and the second clan ruled the southern Konkan. The Clan ruled the modern district of Satara, Kolhapur and Belgaun.The Silahara of Kolhapur was founded during the downfall of the Rashtrakuta Empire between 940 CE and 1215 CE. This gold double Fanam that weighs around 0.76g was issued from Silaharas of Kolhapur. The obverse of this coin depicts ‘Trishul-Trident’ and the reverse of this coin depicts ‘Goblet’.
