An early settlement was of Spanish and later was followed by the French and English who formed a colony in 1666.Historically, most of Barbuda's 1,634 residents have lived in Codrington town.
Barbuda commemorates the bicentenary of the American Revolution by issuing stamps series on 8th March 1976.
Originally, the American War of Independence was initiated by the thirteen original colonies against the Kingdom of Great Britain. It was an ideological and political revolution which occurred in colonial North America between 1765 and 1783.
Democracy was formed for the first time in world history. They proclaimed the slogan "no taxation without representation" against the Stamp Act of 1765. This event set an example in third world countries to fight against an imperialist ruler for their sovereignty and independence.
